In Many Ways I’m A Lot Like Him Really (2017)
Many people are governed by their insecurities and they behave in particular ways either consciously or subconsciously in order to deal with them. To cope with anxieties, we introduce structures to help existing on a daily basis taking control through often specific repetitive routines. Starting from this premise Amanda wanted to consider how her father in his older years continues to put structures into his life and to keep on keeping on. Like many ageing people dealing with the fluctuating changes of their mental and physical states. Rather than letting it be a melancholic reflection, the project is being approached from a positive aspect, looking at what is accomplished or sustained. It engages with the past but is very much about being in the present. This is a personal, collaborate response, but has a wider social context, including how society views and engages with old age.
