Cartographies of Emotion: Accidental Joy 2024

Cartographies of Emotion is a new work in progress that began in 2023. The overall project considers the mental and physical process of mapping through emotions of the mind and physical spaces whether domestic or outside of the home, and engages with the gender of these spaces. The focus of this work continues themes of resilience, trauma, memory distortion and cognitive bias and has a diaristic feel. It questions the assumptions we make and hopes to encourage a pause “what if the other were you?”. The frequent use of soft focus or lack of it and double exposures are an intentional reflection on how imprecise and messy being in the social environment is.

Accidental Joy  is an experimental zine using recycled newspaper stock and the first produced by Denny.
